What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1995 Mitsubishi Caribbean Montero, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

CRANKSHAFT PULLEY BOLT , I DRIVE FROM MY JOB TO MY HOME AND I LOST POWER STEERING AND BROKE MANY PARTS ON THIS AREA. *TR
1. CRANK SHAFT PULLEY CAME OFF WHILE DRIVING DOWN FREEWAY. POWER STEERING WENT OUT, AC WENT OUT,WATER PUMP COULD NOT FUNCTION. 2.WE COULD HAVE BEEN A WRECK. I HAD MY KIDS WITH ME AND WIFE, IT WAS SCARY. 3. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A WELL KNOWN FOREIGN CAR TECH. HE INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A OPEN RECALL FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM AND I NEED TO CALL BAKERSFIELD CA. MITSUBISHI DEALER TO GET THE REPAIR DONE. THEY WERE RUDE AND COULD CARE LESS AND SAID THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM BUT DID KNOW OF THE RECALL INITIALLY WHEN I SPOKE WITH THEM. I THEN TRIED SELMA CA. AUTU MALL .THEY SAID THEY KNEW OF THE RECALL AND WOULD DO THE REPAIR. I HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED PAID $150.00 TO DO THIS . THEY CALLED BACK AND BASICALLY SAID THEY WOULD NOT DO THE REPAIR. I THEN HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO ALPINE AUTOHAUSE TO DO THE REPAIR WHICH COST ANOTHER $150.00 . I HAD TO PAY $776.55 FOR THE REPAIR .THIS IS THE ONLY FAMILY VEHICLE THAT WE HAVE SO I HAD TO PAY OUT OF MY OWN POCKET. WE HAD TO HAVE A VEHICLE. ALPINEAUTOHAUSE IS A WITNESS TO THE FACT THAT THE REPAIR IS THE RECALL PROBLEM. BOTH DEALERS COULD CARE LESS ABOUT US, AND THEY WERE RUDE TO US. THE ONE IN SELMA TOLD ME THAT I WAS ARGUING A LOST CAUSE AND SHOULD BASICALLY MOVE ON. THE ONE IN BAKERSFIELD THE HEAD LADY TOLD ME THAT IN SO MANY WORDS THAT SHE DIDN'T CARE. IS THERE HELP FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME? I THINK THAT THESE DEALERSHIPS DO THIS OFTEN AND PEOPLE COULD HAVE BEEN EASILY KILLED AND THEY DIDN'T CARE. *JB
