2006 Monaco Coach Monarch SE Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). WE HAVE A MONACO SIMBA 2006 RV. MONACO SENT OUT A RECALL LETTER MARCH 2009 REGARDING BRAKES. THEY INDICATED IT WAS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND THE PARTS FOR THE REPAIR WOULD BE AT DEALERSHIPS. AS OF THIS WRITING, THEY HAVE NOT MANUFACTURED THE PART TO REPAIR THE BRAKES AND NO ONE, DEALERSHIPS, MANUFACTURERS, MECHANICS, OR ANYONE ELSE HAS RECEIVED OR KNOWS WHEN THEY MIGHT RECEIVE THE PART. THEREFORE, OUR NEW RV SITS IN OUR DRIVEWAY AND WE ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE IT EVEN TO A MECHANIC, FOR OVER A YEAR. WORKHORSE WHO PURCHASED MONACO HAS NO PLANS IN THE NEAR FUTURE TO ENGINEER OR MANUFACTURE THE PART. WE CANNOT USE NOR CAN WE SELL OUR RV BUT WE MUST CONTINUE TO MAKE MONTHLY LOAN PAYMENTS AND INSURANCE ON A USELESS PIECE OF EQUIPMENT. WE CANNOT GET SATISFACTION WITH ANYONE CONNECTED TO MONACO OR WORKHORSE. OUR ABS BRAKE LIGHT DID COME ON AND WE HAD TO CUT OUR VACATION SHORT AND PRAY ALL THE WAY HOME. CAN YOU DIRECT US TO SOMEONE WHO CAN HELP US? [XXX] *TR

LEFT SUSPENSION REAR TRAILING ARM BROKE ON MY 2006 MONACO CHEETAH SAFARI RV, THIS CAUSED SIFTING OF THE REAR AXLE, WHICH RESULTED IN LOSS OF SUSPENSION. THIS CAUSED THE MOTOR HOME TO SWAY AND TRACK SIDEWAYS. HAD TO ORDER NEW PARTS FROM FACTORY AND WAS ADVISED THAT BOTH LEFT & REAR SIDES WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A DESIGN CHANGE. ALSO A TWO WEEK WAIT FOR THE PARTS, DUE TO BACK LOG OF ORDERS FOR THESE PARTS - LARGE DEMAND. THIS PROBLEM COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. MY WIFE & I WERE STRANDED 1,000 MILES AWAY FROM HOME (ON A TRIP). I ORDERED THE NEW PARTS, COSTING $2090.00 AND $650.00 FOR LABOR TO CHANGE PARTS OUT. THE NEW PARTS ARE REDESIGNED & BUILT WITH HEAVIER MATERIAL. *TR
