Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2016 Moto Guzzi Eldorado, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.
Reports by component
Ranked by how many owner reports name each component category
- Engine133.3%
- Fuel system133.3%
- Other / unspecified133.3%
Percentages are of component mentions. A single complaint can name more than one component, so these do not sum to the total complaint count.
Each component in detail
What the reports in each category say, in the owners' own words
Engine
Reports naming the engine itself — including stalling, misfires, oil consumption, cooling and internal engine components.
From owner reports, verbatim
The motorcycle was started and was idling in neutral, on the side stand. The rpm suddenly increased to red line with no rider input. Not on the motorcycle at the time. This motorcycle has semi ride by wire throttle system. Two cables go from the accelerator grip to an electronics box. This would obviously be a serious safety condition if it occurs while being operated.

Fuel system
Reports naming fuel storage or delivery — tanks, pumps, lines, injectors and fuel leaks.

MY 2016 MOTO GUZZI ELDORADO HAS BARE ALUMINUM SPOKED WHEELS, THESE ARE TUBELESS TIRE WHEELS, THE SPOKE NIPPLES ARE SEALED WITH O RINGS AT EACH SPOKE HOLE, THE BARE ALUMINUM RIMS CORRODE QUICKLY AND I HAVE WAXED AND POLISHED THE WHEELS MORE THAN A FEW TIMES TO TRY TO KEEP THE FINISH BUT ITS NOT WORKING. AT ANYRATE THE SPOKES ON BOTH OF MY WHEELS ARE LEAKING AT THE SPOKES AND AT THE VALVE STEM BODY WHERE IT MEETS THE RIM, AND THE LEAKS ARE GETTING WORSE. THE OTHER 1400 MODEL BIKES MOTO GUZZI MAKES ARE CAST WHEELS WITH A PAINTED FINISH ON THEM AND THESE DONT HAVE SPOKES LIKE THE ELDORADO WHEELS DO. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE AMOUNT OF AIR LEAKING OUR WHILE DRIVING COULD CAUSE A CRASH AND SERIOUS INJURIES OR DEATH. I HAVE SENT A SECOND MESSAGE TO PIAGGIO MOTORS GROUP TO SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO. I ASKED MY DEALER ABOUT IT FIRST AND THEY SAID PIAGGIO WILL NOT COVER THIS AS PART OF A WARRANTY CLAIM. I HAVE TO PUT AIR IN THE TIRES BEFORE EVERY RIDE NOW AND SOMETIMES WHILE I AM RIDING THE HANDLING GETS SOFT.SO PULLING OVER TO AIR UP IS NECESSARY.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
