2001 National Rv Tradewinds Problems
Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component
Data refreshed
What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2001 National Rv Tradewinds, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Ranked by how many owner reports name each component category
- Engine233.3%

OUR 2001 TRADEWINDS LTC MOTORHOME CAUGHT FIRE AND BURNED TO THE GROUND. THE FIRE APPEARED TO START WHERE THE EXHAUST PIPE EXITS THE FIBERGLASS SIDE OF THE MOTORHOME, AT THE RIGHT REAR. INVESTIGATION INTO THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE FIRE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED, DUE TO THE EXTENT OF THE DAMAGE FROM THE FIRE. THE SYMPTOMS OF THIS FIRE ARE THE SAME AS THOSE REPORTED IN COMPLAINT NO. 10159691. *TR
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH THE ENTIRE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FAILED. ALSO THE AUTOMATIC STEPS THAT EXTENDED OUT WHEN THE DOOR OPENED FAILED TO WORK AND CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO SUFFER BRUISED KNEES AND PALMS. ALSO AT 55 MPH THE ENGINE STARTED SMOKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. A FEW DAYS LATER THE FAN MODULE TIE WRAP BROKE, DROPPING DOWN ON THE MANIFOLD. THIS CAUSED THE ENGINE FAN TO BURN OUT. THE MANUFACTURER IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. *NM THE EXHAUST SYSTEM BURNED OUT AND THE REAR END OF THE MOTOR CAUGHT ON FIRE, THE THREE WAY LIGHT SWITCH, ICE MAKER, AIR CONDITIONER WERE ALL INOPERATIVE. THE TOILET SEAT ANCHORS BROKE. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS, AND HEADLIGHTS DID NOT WORK. *JB
