2016 Nexus Phantom Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN FLORIDA, ON ITS MAIDEN VOYAGE, THE ENTIRE TRAILER HITCH ASSEMBLY FELL FROM THE BODY OF THE RV. WE WERE TOWING A TRAILER WITH OUR RACE CAR IN IT AT THE TIME. SOME GOOD SAMARITANS FROM THE FLORIDA STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT WERE THERE TO HELP US AND, UPON INSPECTION, WE FOUND THAT THE ENTIRE HITCH WAS HELD TOGETHER BY ONLY 2 BOLTS. THE OTHER HOLES IN THE HITCH ASSEMBLY DID NOT ALIGN WITH THE HOLES FOR THE BOLTS ON THE BOTTOM OF THE RV BODY. NEW HOLES HAD TO BE DRILLED ON THE SPOT IN ORDER TO SAFELY SECURE THE HITCH ASSEMBLY. WHEN WE ALERTED THE OWNERS AT NEXUS THEY TOLD US THAT THEY WOULD CHECK OTHER NEW RV'S IN THE PLANT, BUT, JUDGING FROM THE HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE WE HAVE EXPERIENCED FROM NEXUS, I HIGHLY DOUBT THAT THIS WAS DONE. WE WERE FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE WAS KILLED OR CRITICALLY INJURED AND ARE WORRIED THAT THERE MAY BE OTHER NEXUS RV'S ON THE ROAD WITH THE IMPROPER HITCH ASSEMBLY.
