Data refreshed
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake. Every record below is an owner-reported complaint about the 1995 Nissan Altima submitted to NHTSA — not a confirmed defect, not a recall and not a manufacturer bulletin. 10 reports on file name it.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

WHILE DRIVING 35MPH BRAKES FUNCTIONED POORLY, AND THERE WAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. *AK
MY BRAKES HAVE ALWAYS SCREECHED, THE DOME LIGHT NEVER WORKED, THE SENSOR FOR ENGINE CHECK LIGHT HAD TO BE REPLACED, LEAK FROM OIL PAN DEFECTIVE SEAL, THE STARTER HAD TO BE REPLACED, WHEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIX THERE WERE ALWAYS EXCUSES FOR THE MALFUNCTION WE HAD TO PAY FOR MOST OF THE REPLACEMENTS ALWAYS OVER 500 DOLLARS PER VISIT.
WHEN STARTING CAR AND THE SEATBELT LIGHT WENT OFF, AIRBAG LIGHT BLINKED OFF AND ON. AIRBAG MAY HAVE DEPLOYED WHEN CONSUMER HIT A BUMP. ALSO,ODOMETER WAS NOT WORKING AT ALL. HYDRAULIC DISC BRAKES AND SHOES HAD BEEN CHANGED,BUT CONSUMER STILL HEARS A SQUEEKY NOISE WHEN DRIVING OR COMING TO A STOP. TOOK TO DEALER, BRAKES WERE CHECKED, BUT DID NOT KNOW WHERE SQUEAKY NOISE WAS COMING FROM. *AK
BRAKES ARE NOT OPERABLE. *AK
VEHICLE BRAKE ASSEMLEY BRACKET THAT ATTACHES TO FIRE WALLIS CRACKED, WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STICK WHEN APPLIED. THIS APPEARS TO BE A FLAW IN THE MANUFACTURING. DEALER/MFR NOTIFIED AND INFORMED CONSUMER THAT REPAIRS WOULD BE AT CONSUMER COST.
WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, MAKING A TURN, CONSUMER APPLIED BRAKES AND THE REAR TIRE WAS SPINNING, CONSUMER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, RESULTING IN A CRASH. CONSUMER HAD TO GET VEHICLE TOWED TO REPAIR SHOP..
OWNER HAS POWER ASSIST BRAKES, SHE STATES THAT HER FRONT BRAKES HAVE WORN OUT COMPLETELY FOR UNKNOWN REASONS, SHE IS CONCERNED ABOUT HER SAFETY. *AK
POOR BRAKE PERFORMANCE(NON-ABS). DURING PANIC AND NORMAL BRAKING CONDITIONS, EXTENDED/SLOW REACTION STOPPING IS EXPERIENCED. *AK
BRAKES FAILED.
BRAKE PADS ARE WEARING PREMATURELY BECAUSE POT HOLES ARE CLOGGING, ALLOWING TOO MUCH FLUID TO ENTER ONTO BRAKES, COULD CAUSE ACCIDENT. *AK
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
