2002 Nissan Crew Cab Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

GAS THROTTLE WAS STUCK AND THE RPM WAS RACING VERY HIGH. I HAD TO USE BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKES TO KEEP THE VEHICLE UNDER CONTROL BEFORE PUTTING IT INTO NEUTRAL. THE CASE OCCURRED WHEN I WAS APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT. ACCORDING TO MAROONE NISSAN IN MIAMI, IT IS THE THROTTLE CABLE WHICH IS DAMAGED. MY TRUCK HAD THE LAST TWO MAJOR SERVICE DONE AT THE SAME LOCATION. MY MINOR SERVICES LIKE OIL CHANGES IS NEVER USUALLY DONE THERE AND I CAN WATCH WHEN THEY ARE WORKING ON THE VEHICLE. I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE THAT IF THIS BECOMES A SERIOUS ISSUE, IT IS ON RECORD. *TR

FRONT BRACKET FOR DRIVER'S SIDE RUNNING BOARD HAS BROKEN TWICE, THIS PART SUFFERED A FATIGUE FRACTURE AT THE WELD OF THE 2 PARTS THAT MAKE UP THE BRACKET, STARTING WHERE THE WELD UNDERCUT THE BASE METAL. HAD THIS PART FAILED AT HIGHWAY SPEED IT WOULD HAVE ACTED AS A SPEAR WHEN IT CAME LOOSE. *NLM

WHILE TOWING A 600 LB TRAILER (APROXIMATE INSIDE CARGO WAS 100 LBS)WITH MY NISSAN FRONTIER(WEIGHT RECOMMENDATION OF 2000 LBS OR LESS AS STATED IN OWNER'S MANUAL), THE REAR BUMPER BROKE ALSO CAUSING MY TRAILER TO RAM INTO THE BROKEN BUMPER.NO ONE WAS INJURED BUT NISSAN ISN'T BACKING THIER PRODUCT WITH MY WARRANTY. THEY ARE SAYING THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN TOWING, IF SO WHY WOULD THE OWNER'S MANUAL HAVE SPEC'S ON HOW MUCH WEIGHT YOU CAN TOW AND BESIDES WHO EVER HEARD OF A TRUCK THAT YOU CAN'T USE FOR TOWING?*AK

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
