The contact owns a 2015 Outdoors RV Glacier Peak. The contact stated that the pin box had started flexing, resulting in cracks on the welds of the pin box. The RV was taken to a RV dealer where the deck plating was removed, and the mechanic discovered severe cracking on all four welds. Upon investigation, the contact linked the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V587000 (Trailer Hitches); however, the RV was not included in the recall. The RV remained with the dealer unrepaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was invalid.
REAR TIRE ON DRIVER SIDE OF 5TH WHEEL BLEW DOING HIGHWAY SPEED 65 MPH ON I-5 NEAR YOLO, CA . TIRE WAS GOODYEAR MARATHON 5 PLY THAT WAS FACTORY INSTALLED BY OUTDOOR RV ON 2015 GLACIER PEAK. TIRE HAD 12000 MILES. RV IS STORED INDOORS WHEN NOT IN USE. PRESSURE WAS CHECKED AT 75 PSI THE MORNING OF THE BLOWOUT. BLOWOUT DID DAMAGE TO THE COWLING, SKIN, DRAIN VALVE HANDLE, POWER RECEPTACLE AND UNDER BODY.
