The defect: Ox Bodies, Inc. (Ox Bodies) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Stampede, Maverick, Chisholm, Trash Body, Flat Dump, Stock Yard, Load King, Aluminum, Chipper, Chisholm Lite, Frontier, and Trailmaker dump bodies. The weld in the rear hinge assemblies of the dump bodies may be insufficient.
The risk: An insufficient weld may cause the rear hinge assembly to fail, increasing the risk of an injury.
The remedy: Ox Bodies will repair the rear hinge assembly welds, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 15, 2022. Owners may contact Ox Bodies' customer service at 1-205-932-5720.

Safety recall
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. NHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
