2005 Pilgrim Open Road Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 PILGRIM OPEN ROAD TRAILER. THE VEHICLE HAS A DOMETIC REFRIGERATOR, MODEL NDR1062. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REFRIGERATOR LEAKED AMMONIA AND YELLOW RESIDUE. THE UNIT ALSO FAILED TO COOL. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER AND DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08E032000; HOWEVER, THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE UNIT BECAUSE IT WAS A WARNING, RATHER THAN AN OFFICIAL RECALL. THE PURCHASE DATE AND PART NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE VIN AND MILEAGES WERE NOT APPLICABLE.

WE HAVE INCURRED TWO TIRE BLOWOUTS ON OUR 40 FT. FIFTH WHEEL RV WITH KENDA TIRES. THE TIRES HAD LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON THEM, KENDA REFUSED ALL LIABILITY BECAUSE THEY WERE OVER TWO YEARS OLD. WE WERE ORIGINAL OWNERS AND WERE AWARE OF THE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE TIRES THAT WE HAVE HEARD FROM PERSONAL STORIES FORM FELLOW RIVERS AND FROM READING RV FORUMS. WE ALWAYS CHECKED PRESSURE BEFORE STARTING ANY TRIP. THE TIRES ARE MADE IN CHINA AND SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON ANY VEHICLE TRAVELING IN THE USA. THEY ARE A HORRIBLE TRAGEDY WAITING TO HAPPEN. IF KENDA WILL ONLY GUARANTEE THESE TIRES FOR TWO YEARS THEY OBVIOUSLY ARE AWARE OF QUALITY ISSUES. THE GOVERNMENT IS REMISS FOR ALLOWING THE SAFETY OF MANY PEOPLE TO BE DEPENDENT ON VEHICLES RIDING ON DEFECTIVE, CHEAP, CHINESE TIRES. *TR
