Recall campaignsA safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.

Recall campaigns

5 campaigns cover this model year — what the defect is, what it could cause, and what the remedy is

EQUIPMENT ADAPTIVE/MOBILITY:WHEELCHAIR LIFT/RAMP

Jul 9, 2024
2,653 units potentially affected
The defect: Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2005-2024 X3-45, 2017-2019 and 2021-2023 X3-45 Commuter, 2006-2007, 2014, and 2018 H3-41, 2005-2020 and 2022-2024 H3-45, and 2019 H3-45 VIP buses equipped with a wheelchair lift. The wheelchair platform bridging device may be too steep, which can cause the wheelchair to become unstable. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 403, "Platform Lift Devices" and 404, "Platform Lift Installations."
The risk: An unstable wheelchair increases the risk of injury to lift occupants.
The remedy: Prevost will replace the wheelchair lift bridging device, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 25, 2025. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost's number for this recall is SR24-26.

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL

Mar 2, 2015
455 units potentially affected
The defect: Prevost Cars, Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain model year 2007-2012 XLII, X3-45, H3-41, H3-45, and H3-45 VIP vehicles manufactured July 5, 2007, to May 11, 2012. The affected vehicles may be missing a fuel line locating clip, allowing the fuel line to rub against the braided coolant hose.
The risk: The fuel line rubbing may result in abrasion and a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel line for abrasion, replacing it as necessary, and will properly secure the fuel line and coolant line, free of charge. The recall began on March 26, 2015. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-418-883-3391. Prevost's number for this recall is SR15-04.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL:ACCELERATOR PEDAL

Jun 26, 2012
400 units potentially affected
The defect: PREVOST IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2007-2011 H3-45 AND MODEL YEAR 2009-2011 X3-45 COACHES EQUIPPED WITH VOLVO D13 ENGINES. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR MAY BE INOPERATIVE DUE TO A PERMANENT IDLE SIGNAL.
The risk: IF THIS OCCURS, THE VEHICLE MAY STOP RESPONDING TO INPUT FROM THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, AND THUS BECOME STOPPED IN TRAFFIC, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: PREVOST WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THROTTLE SENSOR, FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 13, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PREVOST AT 1-418-883-2888.

EQUIPMENT

Jan 9, 2008
392 units potentially affected
The defect: ON CERTAIN MOTOR COACHES EQUIPPED WITH ZF/ARENS ASTRONIC SHIFT SELECTORS, A CELL PHONE PLACED IN THE PROXIMITY OF THE SHIFTER TOUCH PAD COULD CAUSE THE DISPLAY TO CHANGE FROM 'R' (REVERSE) TO 'D' (DRIVE) SHOULD THE PHONE RECEIVE A CALL.
The risk: THIS INTERFERENCE CAN CAUSE THE TRANSMISSION TO NOT OPERATE OR CAUSE IMPROPER SHIFTING, AS FORWARD GEAR CAN BE ENGAGED FROM NEUTRAL ONLY, IF THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN STOPPED, AND IF THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS BEEN DEPRESSED. IF THE MALFUNCTION OCCURS WHILE 'R' (REVERSE) IS BEING SELECTED, THE SHIFTER MAY POSSIBLY CHANGE TO 'D' (DRIVE), INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: PREVOST WILL MAIL STICKERS AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS TO THEIR OWNERS AND WILL ALSO ARRANGE TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION SOFTWARE UPGRADED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 13, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PREVOST AT 1-418-831-5432.

The risk: THIS COULD CAUSE DELAY OR FAILURE IN APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKES WHICH COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE ROLL AWAY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: PREVOST IS WORKING WITH BENDIX TO REPAIR THESE VEHICLES (PLEASE SEE 07E037). BENDIX WILL INSTALL A CHECK VALVE REPAIR KIT FOR THE AFFECTED SR-7 SPRING BRAKE MODULATING VALVE FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON SEPTEMBER 14, 2007. What a recall is

Safety recall
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
Safety investigation
NHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
