The defect: Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2005-2024 X3-45, 2017-2019 and 2021-2023 X3-45 Commuter, 2006-2007, 2014, and 2018 H3-41, 2005-2020 and 2022-2024 H3-45, and 2019 H3-45 VIP buses equipped with a wheelchair lift. The wheelchair platform bridging device may be too steep, which can cause the wheelchair to become unstable. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard numbers 403, "Platform Lift Devices" and 404, "Platform Lift Installations."
The risk: An unstable wheelchair increases the risk of injury to lift occupants.
The remedy: Prevost will replace the wheelchair lift bridging device, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed April 25, 2025. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost's number for this recall is SR24-26.

The defect: Prevost Car (US) Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2010-2023 H3-45, H3-45 VIP, X3-45, X3-45 Com, and X3-45 VIP vehicles. In the event of the alternator front bearing seizing, the alternator belt may continue to operate, causing the bearing to overheat.
The risk: An overheated alternator bearing can increase the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Prevost will replace the alternator belt, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 30, 2022. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046.

The defect: Prevost Cars, Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2010-2018 H3-41, H3-45, H3-45 VIP, X3-45, X3-45 Commuter, X3-45 VIP, and X3-45 VIP Entertainer vehicles, equipped with certain Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. The risk: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

The defect: Prevost Cars, Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain 2008-2018 H3-41, H3-45, H3-45 VIP, X3-45, X3-45 VIP, X3-45 VIP Entertainer, and XL2 motor coaches. The fuel tank cradle supports may have gaps at the points where the cradle connects to the coach frame, which can allow the attachment bolts to loosen and fail causing the fuel tank to fall from the vehicle.
The risk: If the fuel tank separates from the vehicle, it could be a road hazard and the vehicle would stall. Either scenario increases the risk of a crash.

The defect: Prevost Cars, Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 X3-45, XLII-45, H3-41, and H3-45 coaches manufactured November 30, 2009, to August 12, 2014. In the affected vehicles, the wires for the Automatic Fire Suppression System (AFSS) Linear Thermal Detector (LTD) may be damaged by temperatures in the engine compartment.
The risk: The damaged wires may activate the AFSS and shutdown the engine, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash.

The affected vehicles may be missing a fuel line locating clip, allowing the fuel line to rub against the braided coolant hose.
The risk: The fuel line rubbing may result in abrasion and a fuel leak, increasing the risk of a fire.
The remedy: Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel line for abrasion, replacing it as necessary, and will properly secure the fuel line and coolant line, free of charge. The defect: Prevost Cars, Inc. (Prevost) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 X3-45 and 2010-2014 H3-45 coaches manufactured May 1, 2010, through November 7, 2013, and equipped with Amaya Seats with a seat base that can be raised to accommodate wheel chairs. When the seat bases are raised and lowered they may rub against the seat belt and possibly cause damage to the seat belt.
The risk: A damaged seat belt may fail in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury to the seat occupant.
The remedy: Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace any damaged seat belts, and change the attachment point at the seat to remove the risk of damage to the seat belt, free of charge. The defect: Prevost is recalling certain model year 2009-2010 H3-45 and model year 2009 H3-41, X3-45, XLII Converted Coach Shells and XLII-45 Entertainer Converted coach and model year 2008 H3-VIP coach shells. The mechanical springs used to return the accelerator pedal to idle after the driver lifts their foot off the pedal may break.
The risk: If the springs break, the pedal may not return to idle once the driver lifts their foot off the pedal. This unintended acceleration increases the risk of a crash.

The defect: Prevost is recalling certain model year 1993 thru 2013 model H3-40, H3-41, H3-45, and H3-45 VIP Prevost coaches manufactured from December 1993 through February 12, 2013. Under certain conditions, the drag link collar position combined with an over torque of the collar retaining bolt may create a contact with the pitman arm.
The risk: This contact may cause the turnbuckle to fracture without warning. If the drag link turnbuckle breaks while the vehicle is in use, stability and vehicle control may be lost, increasing the risk of a crash.

The defect: Prevost is recalling certain model year 2008-2013 X3-45, H3-41 and H3-45 coaches, model year 2011-2013 H3-45 VIP coaches, model year 2012-2013 X3-45 VIP coaches, and model year 2009-2013 XLII-45 Entertainer coaches manufactured from May 16, 2007, through March 14, 2013 and equipped with Volvo engines. Certain conditions may cause the affected coaches to go into a software mode that would result in the throttle signal being fixed at 1700rpms regardless of throttle pedal input from the driver.
The risk: Uncontrollable throttle position may lead to a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

The defect: PREVOST HAS NOTIFIED NHTSA OF A DEFECT IN CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2008-2010 MOTOR COACHES FITTED WITH RICON PUBLIC USE LIFTS. THE RESTRAINT BELT ON THESE LIFTS WAS DESIGNED TO PREVENT THE LIFT FROM MOVING, UNLESS THE TONGUE OF THE BELT IS FULLY ENGAGED AND LATCHED IN THE BUCKLE. RICON HAS DISCOVERED, HOWEVER, THAT IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE OPERATOR TO INSERT THE BELT TONGUE INTO THE BUCKLE WITHOUT FULLY ENGAGING THE LATCHING MECHANISM. IN THIS CASE, THE RESTRAINT BELT WOULD APPEAR TO BE LATCHED, AND THE OPERATOR COULD RUN THE LIFT. IF THE RESTRAINT BELT TONGUE IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED INTO THE RESTRAINT BELT BUCKLE, AND LATCHED, THE LIFT MAY OPERATE WITH AN OCCUPANT ON THE PLATFORM.
The risk: THE USER OF THE LIFT COULD BE INJURED SHOULD THE LIFT MOVE WITHOUT THE RESTRAINT BELT PROPERLY BUCKLED.
The remedy: PREVOST COACH IS WORKING WITH RICON AND PREVOST WILL BE HANDLING THE REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN THROUGH SAFETY RECALL (SR10-19). Alternator Front Bearing Failure

NHTSA's Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) opened a Preliminary Evaluation after reviewing field reports concerning alternator front bearing failures that cause elevated temperatures within the engine compartment, resulting in the fire suppression system (FSS) activating, immediately shutting the engine down, and rendering the bus inoperable.Analysis of the data provided by Prevost Car (US) Inc. showed high failure frequency and thermal events. An immediate shutdown of the bus can increase the risk of a crash or injury of bus occupants. In response to this investigation, Prevost Car (US) Inc. and Volvo Bus Corporation decided to conduct recalls 22V-221 and 22V-222. By submitting Part 573 Defect Information Reports on April 6, 2022, Prevost Car (US) Inc. and Volvo Bus Corporation notified ODI of a safety defect in certain model year (MY) 2010-2023 Prevost H3-45; X3-45; X3-45 Com; H3-45 VIP: X3-45 VIP and 2020 Volvo 9700 vehicles; some of these buses may have experienced thermal events after failure of the alternator front bearing, because the alternator belt continues to turn the alternator after the bearing failure.These recall actions address the safety concern that led to the opening of this investigation.Therefore, with these recall actions, this investigation is closed. The recalls encompass all model and MY vehicles addressed by the investigation. However, the closing of this investigation does not constitute a finding by NHTSA that a safety-related defect does not exist in other model or MY vehicles outside of the recall scope. The agency reserves the right to take further action if warranted by the circumstances.
