The defect: ON CERTAIN TRAILERS EQUIPPED WITH LIPPERT AXLES, DUE TO MISLOCATED SPINDLE WELDS, THE SPINDLE MAY PARTIALLY OR COMPLETELY SEPARATE FROM THE AXLE TUBE AND THE WHEEL AND HUB ASSEMBLY MAY COME OFF THE VEHICLE.
The risk: SUDDEN AXLE FAILURE COULD RESULT IN A VEHICLE CRASH.
The remedy: LIPPERT IS CONDUCTING THIS RECALL AND WILL INSPECT FOR MISLOCATED WELDS AND REPLACE THE AXLE IF NECESSARY (PLEASE SEE 06E-095). OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT LIPPERT AT 1-877-870-4900 OR FLEETWOOD AT 1-800-322-8216.

FLEETWOOD HAS FILED CAMPAIGN 06V-473 TO ADDRESS 59 MODEL YEAR 2007 VEHICLES THAT MAY HAVE BEEN ASSEMBLED WITH DEFECTIVE AXLE - SPINDLE WELDS BEFORE THESE AXLES COULD BE INSPECTED BY THE AXLE SUPPLIER, LIPPERT COMPONENTS, FOR THE SUSPECT CONDITION.ODI WILL MONITOR FLEETWOOD RV FOR THE NEXT SIX MONTHS (UNTIL MAY 2007) FOR ANY AXLE - SPINDLE WELD PERFORMANCE PROBLEMS AND WILL INITIATE FURTHER INVESTIGATION IF ADDITIONAL PROBLEMS ARE REPORTED.
