The defect

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: LOW FLOOR TRANSIT BUSES. THESE VEHICLES DO NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS NO. 108, "LAMPS, REFLECTIVE DEVICES, AND ASSOCIATED EQUIPMENT." THE REFLEX REFLECTORS ON THE SIDE, FRONT (AMBER) AND REAR(RED) POSITIONS ARE MISSING.

THIS IS A POTENTIAL ROAD HAZARD AT NIGHT.

The remedy

THE CORRECT REFLEX REFLECTORS WILL BE INSTALLED.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JUNE 5, 2000. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT GILLIG AT 1-510-785-1500.
