The defect

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTOR HOMES. INCORRECT INFORMATION HAS BEEN USED ON THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) TAG. THE TAG SHOWS TIRES INFORMATION LOCATED UNDER COLD INFLATION PRESSURE AS 131 PSI FOR THE FRONT AND 123 PSI FOR THE REAR. THE MAXIMUM TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE FOR THE RIM IS 120 PSI. THIS DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS 120, "TIRE SELECTION AND RIMS FOR MOTOR VEHICLES OTHER THAN PASSENGER CARS."

The risk

THE RIM COULD POSSIBLY FAIL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The remedy

NEW TAGS WILL BE SENT TO OWNERS.

OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING AUGUST 2000.OWNERS WHO DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REPLACEMENT LABEL WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT NEWMAR AT 1-800-731-8300.ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
