The defect
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THE FUEL GAUGE AND LOW FUEL WARNING SYSTEM MAY NOT PROVIDE ACCURATE INDICATION OF LOW FUEL LEVELS.
The risk
THE OPERATOR COULD RUN OUT OF FUEL WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSING THE OPERATOR TO BECOME DISTRACTED, OR TO SLOW UNEXPECTEDLY IN TRAFFIC, CREATING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL GAUGE SENDING COMPONENTS.

OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN DECEMBER 28, 2000. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT KAWASAKI AT 1-949-770-0400.ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).
