The defect
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: RECREATIONAL VEHICLE CHASSIS. A LOSS OF THROTTLE CONTROL (ENGINE WILL RETURN TO IDLE) COULD OCCUR WHEN THE EXHAUST BRAKE HAS BEEN ACTIVATED, THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED, AND THE VEHICLE IS COMING TO A STOP.
The risk
A LOSS OF THROTTLE CONTROL COULD OCCUR, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy
DEALERS WILL REPROGRAM THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 14, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT FREIGHTLINER AT 1-800-547-0712.
