The defect
VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH VISTEON AIR BAG CONTROL MODULES. THESE MODULES WERE PRODUCED WITH AN INCORRECT DEPLOYMENT CALIBRATION SETTING.
The risk
IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH, IMPROPER AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT COULD RESULT, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY OR DEATH.
The remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE AIR BAG ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JANUARY 22, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT QVALE AT 1-800-390-9606.
