The defect
CERTAIN HOPPER BOTTOM FARM TRAILERS FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARD NO. 121, "AIR BRAKE SYSTEMS." THE SUSPENSION ON THESE TRAILERS IS NOT EQUIPPED WITH AN ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) AS REQUIRED BY THE STANDARD.
The remedy
DEALERS WILL INSTALL AN ABS SYSTEM ON THESE TRAILERS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN FEBRUARY 5, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT TUFF/LUGG AT 1-866-672-5592.
