What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

ON CERTAIN 29' PROPANE POWERED BUSES, THE INERTIA SWITCH IS CURRENTLY MOUNTED UNDER THE DASH.

The risk

DUE TO EXCESSIVE VIBRATION, THE SWITCH COULD ACTIVATE DURING NORMAL OPERATION CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO STALL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

The remedy

DEALERS WILL RELOCATE THE SWITCH TO THE CHASSIS FRAME RAIL. SUPREME HAS NOT YET PROVIDED AN OWNER NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT SUPREME AT 1-219-642-4730.

Notes

CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
