What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

ON CERTAIN CONVERTER DOLLIES, THE CHECK VALVE BETWEEN THE AIR RESERVOIR AND THE BOOSTER VALVE WAS INSTALLED IN THE REVERSE POSITION WITH THE ARROW ON THE VALVE POINTING TOWARDS THE AIR RESERVOIR.

The risk

THIS CAN RESULT IN LOW AIR PRESSURE TO THE BOOSTER VALVE. THIS ALSO CREATES A BRAKING TIMING ISSUE TO THE TRAILER UNIT(S).

The remedy

THE CHECK VALVE WILL BE RE-PLUMBED, ARROW POINTING TOWARDS THE BOOSTER VALVE, TO PROVIDE CORRECT AIR FLOW. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN ON APRIL 26, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT STRICK AT 1-215-949-3600.

Notes

CUSTOMERS CAN ALSO CONTACT THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION'S AUTO SAFETY HOTLINE AT 1-888-DASH-2-DOT (1-888-327-4236).

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
