The defect
ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL LINE QUICK CONNECTORS MAY BREAK IF CARE IS NOT USED WHEN REMOVING THE FUEL TANK AT THE TIME OF SERVICE.
The risk
THIS COULD RESULT IN FUEL LEAKAGE. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.
The remedy
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE QUICK CONNECTORS ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN IN SEPTEMBER 2006. OWNERS WHO HAVE NOT HAD THEIR MOTORCYCLE REPAIRED WILL BE RENOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL DURING AUGUST/SEPTEMBER 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT APRILIA AT 770-592-2261.
