The defect
ON CERTAIN AIR COMPRESSOR TRAILERS, THE SPARE TIRE MOUNT MAY FAIL AT ONE OR MORE OF THE WELDS ON THE UPRIGHT BAR RESULTING IN THE SPARE TIRE COMING LOOSE AND FALLING FROM THE TRAILER.
The risk
SHOULD THE SPARE TIRE DETACH ITSELF FROM THE CARRIER WHILE THE TRAILER IS IN MOTION, A CRASH MAY RESULT.
The remedy
SCOTT WILL REPLACE THE OLD STYLE SPARE TIRE MOUNT WITH ONE OF A NEW DESIGN. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING OCTOBER 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT SCOTT AT 1-800-247-7257.
