The defect
ON ONE MOTORCYCLE, THE FACTORY-INSTALLED WELDED GUSSET PLATE CONNECTING THE FRAME BACKBONE, NECK, AND DOWN TUBE IS MISSING.
The risk
AS A RESULT, ADDITIONAL STRESS WOULD BE PLACED ON THE WELDS CAUSING RAPID WEAR AND POSSIBLE JOINT SEPARATION. FRAME SEPARATION OF THE NECK, DOWN TUBE, AND BACKBONE JOINTS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE STEERING AND CONTROL OF THE BIKE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A CRASH.
The remedy
THE OWNER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND HIS MOTORCYCLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
