The defect

STARTRANS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2010 AND 2011 MFSAB SCHOOL BUSES MANUFACTURED FROM APRIL 14, 2010, THROUGH JUNE 7, 2011, EQUIPPED WITH C. E. WHITE SELF-LATCHING SEAT CUSHIONS. The risk

VEHICLE OCCUPANTS MAY BE INJURED IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH SHOULD THE SEAT CUSHION FLIP UP OUT OF PLACE. ALSO, OUT OF POSITION SEAT CUSHIONS COULD INTERFERE WITH EMERGENCY EGRESS OF THE VEHICLE.

The remedy

STARTRANS WILL NOTIFY OWNERS, AND DEALERS WILL REPAIR THE SEATS FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 16, 2012. OWNERS MAY CONTACT STARTRANS AT 1-574-642-4730.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
