What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Prevost is recalling one model year 2013 H3-45 coach bus manufactured November 14, 2011, through July 3, 2012. In the affected bus, the transmission has the wrong software and may not lock to prevent movement while the wheelchair lift door is open. Thus, this bus fails to conform to the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 403, "Platform Lift Systems for Motor Vehicles."

The risk

Without the transmission locking to prevent movement, if the parking brake lock fails while the wheelchair lift door is open, the bus may unexpectedly move, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

Prevost has notified the owner, and the transmission is being reprogrammed, free of charge. Owners may contact Prevost at 1-418-883-2888 x 6558. Prevost's campaign recall number is SR13-25.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
