The defect
PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain model year 2015 Peterbilt 210, 220, 320, and Kenworth K270, K370, T660, T800, T880 trucks manufactured July 21, 2014, to September 16, 2014. The brake caliper bolts may not be properly torqued.
The risk
As a result, the brake caliper bolts may loosen, reducing the effectiveness of the brakes and increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy
PACCAR will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, and tighten or replace any loose caliper bolts, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on March 27, 2015. Owners may contact Peterbilt customer service 1-940-591-4000, or Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5000. PACCAR's number for this recall is 15KWA (Kenworth) and 115B (Peterbilt).
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
