What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Altec Industries Inc. (Altec) is recalling certain 2016 DLB Digger Derrick vehicles. The fasteners that secure the outer rotation bearings may fail.

The risk

If the fasteners that attach the rotation platform to the truck fail, the digger boom may unintentionally move, increasing the risk of injury to the user or those nearby.

The remedy

Altec has notified owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the fasteners, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on February 24, 2017. Owners may contact Altec customer service at 1-877-462-5832. Altec's number for this recall is MAB 650.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
