What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Motor Coach Industries (MCI) is recalling certain 2014 -2016 J4500 vehicles. The front sway bar on these vehicles may crack at the bushing/clamp locations.

The risk

If the sway bar cracks, it can detach from the vehicle, affecting vehicle handling and increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Motor Coach Industries (MCI) will notify owners and dealers will replace the sway bar assembly, free of charge. The recall began on June 13, 2017. Owners may contact Motor Industries at 1-800-241-2947. MCI's number for this recall is Service Bulletin 452.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
