What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2017-2018 Prime Time Wildcat fifth-wheel recreational trailers. The water heater may have been installed too close to the underside of the slideroom possibly allowing carbon monoxide to enter the vehicle.

The risk

If carbon monoxide enters the vehicle through the slideroom opening, it can increase the risk of injury.

The remedy

Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a kit to remedy the water heater's location, free of charge. The recall began on October 30, 2017. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-862-1025. Forest River's number for this recall is 61-0515.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
