What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Trail King Industries, Inc. (Trail King) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Flatbed Trailers, model numbers TK20, TKT20, TK24, TKT24, and TK32. The axles on these vehicles may have been installed incorrectly, reducing the braking ability of the electric brakes.

The risk

The brakes may not be able to be applied to full strength, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Trail King has notified owners, and dealers will inspect the orientation of the brakes, correcting them if necessary, free of charge. The recall began on October 4, 2017. Owners may contact Trail King customer service at 1-800-843-3324.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
