What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Forest River, Inc (Forest River) is recalling certain 2019 Rockport vehicles. The Federal Placard may indicate an incorrect Gross Axle Weight Rating (GAWR), which can allow the vehicle to be overloaded. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

The risk

An overloaded vehicle may cause operator to lose control of vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Forest River has notified owners, and dealers will replace the Federal Placard with a new corrected Placard, free of charge. The recall began January 18, 2018. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-522-7599. Forest River's number for this recall is 51-0919.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
