The defect
Wabash National Corporation (Wabash) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Van trailers manufactured with flat bottom floors that are equipped with aerodynamic skirts. The aerodynamic skirts attached to the van trailers may come loose.
The risk
If the aerodynamic skirt detaches while the trailer is moving it may increase the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy
Wabash has notified owners, and dealers will rework the safety tether assembly to keep the skirt attached, free of charge. The recall began September 21, 2020. Owners may contact Wabash's customer service at 765-771-5404. Wabash's number for this recall is B20012.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
