NHTSA advisory: park outside

NHTSA has issued a “park outside” advisory for this campaign.

Owners of covered vehicles are advised to park away from structures and other vehicles until the recall repair has been completed. Confirm whether your specific vehicle is covered using its VIN before acting on this.

Check your VIN on NHTSA.gov

Recalls apply to specific vehicles, not to every vehicle of a model year. Check your VIN with NHTSA or your manufacturer's dealer to confirm whether a recall affects your vehicle.

What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Hyundai Motor America (Hyundai) is recalling certain 2019-2021 Genesis G70 vehicles. The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) module could malfunction and short circuit.

The risk

An electrical short circuit inside the ABS module could cause an engine compartment fire while parked or driving.

The remedy

Owners are advised to park outside and away from structures until the remedy is complete. Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will replace the ABS module fuse, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 6, 2021. Owners can contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai's number for this recall is 007G.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
