What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Shyft Group (Shyft Group) is recalling certain 2022 Utilimaster Walk-In vans. The catalytic converter theft deterrent cover may contact and damage the hydraulic brake lines.

The risk

Damaged brake lines may leak, causing a loss of brakes and increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Shyft Group will modify the cover to provide proper clearance and replace damaged brake lines as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in November 2022. Owners may contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-237-7806. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 22-15.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
