The defect

Terex South Dakota, Inc. (Terex) is recalling certain 2022 C4000, C5000, C6000, C7000, General, and Trans TL vehicles. A seam in the boom structure may have been improperly welded, causing the weld to crack.

The risk

A cracked weld may lead to the boom failing, increasing the risk of an injury.

The remedy

Dealers will replace or repair the boom, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on February 8, 2023. Owners may contact Terex's customer service at 1-605-882-4000. Terex's number for this recall is SN715.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
