The defect
Reading Truck Equipment, LLC (Reading) is recalling certain 2021-2024 dump body trucks. Inadequate clearance may allow the hood to contact the main electrical fuse terminal.
The risk
Contact with the main fuse terminal can cause electrical arcing, increasing the risk of a fire.
The remedy
Dealers will inspect and relocate fuse terminal and fuse, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 25, 2024. Owners may contact Reading customer service at 1-800-458-2226.
Notes
Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
