What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Corp. Mirco Bird, Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain 2019-2022 G5 school buses. An inadequate connection between the power steering pressure line and the brake hydroboost unit may result in a sudden loss of power steering fluid.

The risk

A sudden loss of power steering fluid can result in a loss of power steering and power brake assist, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the power steering lines as necessary, free of charge. Vehicles in this recall were previously recalled under 22V-811 and owners will need to have the new remedy completed even if their vehicle was remedied under the prior recall. Owner notification letters were mailed June 10, 2024. Owners may contact Mirco Bird customer service at 1-819-477-2012. Micro Bird's number for this recall is 24-107-FUS.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.nhtsa.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
