What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Autocar, LLC (Autocar) is recalling certain 2023 Autocar DC (Legend) trucks. The forward collision warning (FCW) system may be inoperative due to a software error.

The risk

An inoperative forward collision warning system that does not function as intended can increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will reprogram the FCW software, free of charge. Both vehicles were repaired by March 5, 2025. Owners may contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611. Autocar's number for this recall is DC-2501.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153) or go to nhtsa.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
