What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Shyft Group (Shyft) is recalling certain 2022-2025 Utilimaster Aeromaster Upfit vehicles. The suspension seat mounting fasteners may have been improperly tightened. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems."

The risk

A seat with loose fasteners may not properly restrain an occupant during a crash, increasing the risk of injury.

The remedy

Dealers will inspect and tightened or replace the fasteners as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed May 7, 2025. Owners may contact Shyft customer service at 1-800-237-7806. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 25-09.

Notes

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236 (TTY 888-275-9171) or go to nhtsa.gov.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
