What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Motiv Power Systems, Inc. (Motiv) is recalling certain 2021-2024 F-59 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 6 EPIC powertrain. The high voltage battery pack may be improperly sealed and allow liquid to enter the battery.

The risk

Liquid intrusion into a battery pack can cause a loss of electrical isolation or short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire or shock hazard.

The remedy

Motiv worked with Our Next Energy to inspect and repair the battery packs as necessary, free of charge. All affected vehicles were repaired by November 2024. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
