What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Zero Motorcycles Inc. (Zero) is recalling certain 2023 DSR/X motorcycles. The motor controller may have been built with incorrect fasteners, causing higher resistance at the busbar joint and a loss of drive power.

The risk

A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will replace the controller, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 19, 2026. Owners may contact Zero customer service at 1-888-841-8085. Zero's number for this recall is SV-RCL-025-021. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will be searchable on NHTSA.gov beginning December 19, 2025.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
