What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Spartan Fire, LLC (Spartan) is recalling certain 2021-2023, 2025 Spartan Fire Legend, 2007, 2015-2026 Star Series, and 2019-2020 UST Body emergency vehicles. A handle may detach from the ladder lock assembly, allowing the ground ladders to fall off.

The risk

A detached handle or ladder can become a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will inspect and replace the rod and handle as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 2, 2026. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Spartan's number for this recall is 26001.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
