What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain 2002-2026 BC1800XL brush chipper trailers. The hydraulic jack may extend unexpectedly.

The risk

An extended jack may contact the ground while driving, causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of injury or a crash.

The remedy

Dealers will repair the hydraulic jack, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed August 7, 2026. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-800-829-0051 ext. 7060. Vermeer's number for this recall is IK4837.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
