What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

Wabash National Corporation (Wabash) is recalling certain 2021-2026 Econex Refrigerated Body vehicles. The side door stirrup steps are not properly secured and may detach.

The risk

Steps that detach while in use increase the risk of injury. Additionally, steps that detach while in transit increase the risk of a crash.

The remedy

Wabash will repair the stirrup steps, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 4, 2026. Owners may contact Wabash customer service at 1-765-771-5404.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
