The defect
Midwest Industries, Inc. (Midwest) is recalling certain 2027 Yamaha boat trailers. The tongue may fatigue and fail during towing, resulting in the trailer detaching.
The risk
A detached trailer increases the risk of a crash.
The remedy
Owners are advised not to tow their trailer until the repair has been completed. Dealer will replace the trailer tongue, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 22, 2026. Owners may contact Midwest customer service at 1-800-859-3028.
A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
