What this recall covers

NHTSA's campaign record, quoted as published

The defect

ON THE INVOLVED VEHICLES, AN INTERFERENCE CONDITION MAY EXIST BETWEEN THE CARBURETOR FUEL PIPE ASSEMBLY AND THE AIR CONDITIONING BRACKET. THIS COULD EVENTUALLY CAUSE THE PIPE TO WEAR THROUGH DUE TO VIBRATION AND FUEL PRESSURE PULSATION.

The remedy

DEALER WILL INSPECT AND, IF NECESSARY, REPOSITION THE CARBURETOR FUEL PIPE AT NO CHARGE.

Notes

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRUCKS.SYSTEM: FUEL; CARBURETOR PIPE.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: FUEL LEAKAGE COULD OCCUR, CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR AVEHICLE FIRE AND PASSENGER INJURY.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
