The defect

THE INVOLVED VEHICLES WERE BUILT WITH CERTAIN TRACTOR PROTECTION VALVES WHICH MAY CONTAIN AN EXTRA VALVE. THIS MAY PREVENT THE TRAILER BRAKES FROM FULLY RELEASING AFTER A LOW PRESSURE APPLICATION, CAUSING THE TRAILER BRAKES TO DRAG.

The remedy

THE DEALER WILL INSPECT FOR THE PRESENCE OF THE EXTRA CHECK VALVE. IF FOUND, THE EXTRA CHECK VALVE WILL BE REMOVED. THIS WILL BE DONE AT NO CHARGE.

A safety recall is issued when a manufacturer or NHTSA determines that a vehicle has a safety-related defect or does not comply with a federal motor vehicle safety standard. Recall repairs are free. Whether a specific vehicle is covered depends on its VIN — a recall listed for a model year does not necessarily apply to every vehicle of that year.
