The defect

THE COMPONENTS IN QUESTION ARE THE FOUR CHAIN ATTACHING POINTS ON THE ELEVATOR PLATFORM TO THE COACH FRAME. THE FUNCTION OF THESE CHAINS IS TO RAISE AND LOWER THE ELEVATOR VIA A HYDRAULIC CYLINDER. COMPONENTS COULD EXPERIENCE PREMATURE FATIGUE FAILURE, IF NOT PROPERLY ADJUSTED AND MAINTAINED.

The remedy

A NEW ATTACHING SYSTEM WITH HIGHER STRENGTH MATERIALS WILL BE INSTALLED WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNER.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: BUSES; TRANSIT.SYSTEM: EQUIPMENT; WHEEL CHAIR LIFTS.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: SUCH A FAILURE WOULD CAUSE THE PLATFORM TO SAG SEVERELYAT THE FRONT OR REAR SECTION. IT COULD FALL TO THE GROUND, CAUSING SERIOUSPERSONAL INJURY.NOTE: OPERATION OF WHEEL CHAIR LIFTS SHOULD BE SUSPENDED IMMEIATELY UNTILREPAIRS ARE COMPLETED.
