The defect

ON CERTAIN VEHICLES, THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTUATION CHAIN COULD CATCH ON CERTAIN CARBURETOR HARDWARE, CAUSING THE THROTTLE PLATE TO REMAIN IN A PARTIALLY OPEN POSITION.

The remedy

DEALER WILL INSTALL A PROTECTIVE PLATE BETWEEN THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTUATION CHAIN AND THE THROTTLE PLATE, WITHOUT CHARGE TO OWNER.

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES.SYSTEM: THROTTLE LINKAGES AND CONTROL; CRUISE CONTROL, ACTUATION CHAIN.CONSEQUENCES OF DEFECT: THE THROTTLE WOULD REMAIN OPEN, EVEN AFTER THEACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS RELEASED. THIS COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROLAND AN ACCIDENT.
